Charles Edward Haas
Ever since his mother taught him how to read at the age of three, Charles has been fascinated by books. A personal collection of several thousand books clearly shows his love for the written word. Although he has tried his hand at a number of different careers, including archery director, psychometrist, and youth counselor, Charles has always dreamed of becoming a writer and bringing others the same pleasure he gets when cracking open a new book. His first book, The Lost Hope of the Hopeless Romantic, was written to provide some solace after a particularly devastating time in his life. Most of it is true. Following the old adage that "life is stranger than fiction," the strangest and most unbelievable parts are the true ones! His second book, the Book of Ley, a collection of original musings, evolved partially out of the first book. He is currently working on several other writing projects. In 2007, Charles was asked by a close friend, Matthew Mortimer, to help him create a book of student essays. Whose History Is It Anyway? was released in June 2008, and a new collection, We Cannot Escape History, was recently unveiled at a book release ceremony at Harrington Middle School in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. Both books are only available for purchase here, and all profits go towards the classroom. In addition to writing, Charles loves working with children. He runs a small tutoring company, teaches several summer courses, and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in mathematics education. |
